Mission & Purpose
The MIT Food and Agriculture Club (MITFAC) exists to empower people towards a more sustainable, regenerative, and resilient food system.
Members of the MIT FAC are actively engaged in advocating for and supporting the development of a more sustainable food system on our own campus, as well as enhancing MIT's role in contributing to global agricultural sustainability. Feeding the growing population while eliminating negative social, economic, and environmental consequences is a critical challenge facing the world today. It is also an opportunity to create a more sustainable, equitable global food and agriculture system through collaboration, innovation, and leadership.
Our focus areas cut across the value chain of food & agriculture:
1) Production
2) Distribution
3) Retail
4) Consumption
5) Waste Management
We aim to prioritize collaboration and events that focus on increasing exposure in:
CAREER: envision diverse job functions, innovate with novel interventions, and cultivate a professional network in food & ag
INDUSTRY: uncover challenges and opportunities, connect with leaders/innovators in the space, and drive cross-disciplinary relevance
FLAVOR: enjoy diverse cuisines, inspire with taste, and illicit a personal connection through food
SUSTAINABILITY: understand the climate impacts and social justice implications of our food system and build a deeper appreciation for where our food comes from
